Free energy audits to local businesses

Treesponsibility and Hebden Bridge Transition Town have teamed up to offer free energy audits to local businesses in an effort to engage with the entire local community in working on long-term solutions to climate change and peak oil.

40% of UK’s emissions come from businesses and as the UK Government have made a voluntary commitment to reducing carbon emissions by 20% by 2012, businesses can expect more measures to be put in place to make them reduce their emissions in the years to come. The easiest way to reduce your carbon emissions is by implementing simple energy saving measures. It’s not enough to solve the problem, but it’s a first step. It will help you save energy, help you save money and lower your carbon footprint.

The free energy audit is part of our business support project, and involves looking at how energy is currently used in your business to see where improvements, and therefore money, can be saved.

The consultation will take between 1- 1 1/2 hours and will involve a detailed look at your premises, energy bills (to govern current expenditure), waste generated by your business and your usual operating practice to see where savings can be made.

All of this information will be kept in the strictest of confidence. Following the consultation you will be given a report outlining where improvements can be made and money saved. You will also be offered advice on carbon Trust grants to upgrade your equipment, local recycling facilities and information and discounts from green energy providers.

We are committed to carrying out 99 of these consultations over a one year period, as part of our White Rose Forest Infrastructure grant, funded by Yorkshire Forward.

These consultations are a one off, so after you been given the report, there is no further obligation to participate with Treesponsibility unless you would wish to do so.
